ER/Studio 21.1 released with new analytics and AI features

ER/Studio 21.1 has been released, introducing new capabilities aimed at supporting analytics, AI initiatives and everyday data management. A key addition is the new Semantic Generator, which can transform Enterprise Logical Data Models into reusable semantic assets. The release also introduces a Power BI Semantic Layer Generator for automatically creating semantic models from approved star schemas. ER/Studio 21.1 further expands its AI and knowledge management capabilities with support for RDF knowledge graphs, SHACL constraints and Business Glossary integration. Beta support has also been added for Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) and the dbt Semantic Layer. Platform compatibility has been updated as well, with support for IBM Db2 for z/OS 13, Db2 LUW 12 and Microsoft SQL Server 2025.

Parallels Desktop 27 released with performance and compatibility improvements

Parallels Desktop 27 is now available, bringing new performance, compatibility and management improvements for running Windows applications and virtual machines on Mac. The new version introduces full support for macOS 27 Golden Gate and improves graphics performance with a new Metal-based OpenGL 4.3 driver in Parallels Desktop Pro. According to Parallels’ testing, supported OpenGL workloads can run up to 2.6 times faster than with the previous graphics driver. Parallels Desktop 27 also adds accelerated AI and machine-learning capabilities for supported Linux virtual machines on Macs with Apple M4 processors or newer. Business and enterprise users receive further improvements to areas such as SSO, security and virtual machine management. The release is available for Apple silicon Macs, while users of Intel-based Macs can continue using Parallels Desktop 26 and earlier versions.

DBvisit brings Zero Data Loss protection to Oracle Standard Edition

DBvisit has announced the availability of Zero Data Loss (ZDL) protection for Oracle Standard Edition, giving organizations a new option for improving database resilience without moving to Oracle Enterprise Edition. The new capability is designed to provide a zero-data-loss recovery point objective (RPO) for Oracle Standard Edition environments. It can be offered both to new customers and to existing Dbvisit StandbyMP users looking to strengthen their current disaster recovery setup. According to DBvisit, ZDL can also be incorporated into managed service offerings, allowing service providers to deliver a higher level of Oracle database protection as part of their own services. DBvisit has made additional materials available for the launch, including customer presentations, FAQs, sales resources and technical information intended to help organizations evaluate how Zero Data Loss could fit into their Oracle environments. For organizations running Oracle Standard Edition, the new option provides another way to improve business continuity and data protection while retaining the cost advantages of the Standard Edition platform.

Cookiebot publishes new guidance on CIPA risks and EU AI Act requirements

Cookiebot has released new materials aimed at helping organizations address current website privacy and AI compliance requirements. One of the key topics is the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) and the continuing increase in lawsuits related to website tracking technologies. Cookiebot has published a step-by-step configuration guide showing how its Consent Management Platform (CMP) can be set up to reduce CIPA-related risk by preventing non-essential technologies from activating before appropriate user consent is obtained. Cookiebot is also highlighting developments around the EU AI Act, noting that although some regulatory deadlines have shifted, organizations should still continue preparing for upcoming compliance obligations. Alongside the technical guidance, Cookiebot has made additional partner and customer-facing resources available, including sales materials, presentations, FAQs and other content intended to support discussions around privacy, consent management and regulatory compliance. MAXDAYS 2026 brings MAXQDA users together on September 15

MAXQDA will host its MAXDAYS 2026 virtual conference on September 15, 2026. The free online event brings together researchers and MAXQDA users from around the world for more than 20 sessions presented in six languages. The program covers topics ranging from introductory MAXQDA workshops to advanced qualitative and mixed methods research. Artificial intelligence also plays a major role, with sessions exploring MAXQDA AI Assist, AI-supported coding, summarization, prompting and transparent AI-assisted research workflows. MAXQDA Chief Product Manager Julia Gerson will present the latest developments in MAXQDA, including new releases, AI features and a preview of upcoming product developments. The event will conclude with a keynote presentation by Professor David Silverman, who will discuss the role of naturalistic and manufactured data in qualitative research. Flashpoint releases 2026 Midyear Global Threat Intelligence Report

Flashpoint has released the 2026 Midyear Edition of its Global Threat Intelligence Report (GTIR), examining major cybersecurity trends observed during the first half of the year. The report focuses particularly on the growing use of artificial intelligence by cybercriminals, information-stealing malware, vulnerabilities and ransomware. According to Flashpoint, threat actors are increasingly moving beyond using generative AI simply as an assistant and are adopting locally deployed, safeguard-free AI tools for activities such as phishing, exploit development and code obfuscation. Flashpoint tracked more than 22 million threat-actor posts discussing or advertising AI tools for criminal use during the first half of 2026. The report also highlights the continued importance of compromised identities. Infostealer malware affected more than 7.4 million hosts and exposed over 1.7 billion credentials and identity data points. Meanwhile, 19% of the 21,667 vulnerabilities disclosed during the period already had functional exploit code available. Ransomware activity also continued to grow, with Flashpoint reporting a 45% increase in victim volume compared with the previous period. At the same time, ransomware payment rates fell to a record-low 28%. The GTIR Midyear Edition is intended to help security and risk teams understand these changing attack patterns and move toward more proactive, threat-informed security practices.

Avast Business on-premise management console to be discontinued on 31 August 2026

Avast has announced that the Avast Business on-premise management console will be discontinued on 31 August 2026. The change only affects customers who currently use the locally installed management console to administer their Avast Business licenses and protected devices. Customers using Avast Business Hub, as well as those running Avast Business endpoint protection without a management console, are not affected and do not need to take any action. The discontinuation applies specifically to the management console. Avast Business endpoint protection installed on customer devices is not being discontinued as part of this change. Customers still using the on-premise console are advised to migrate to Avast Business Hub before 31 August 2026. According to Avast, existing license keys will continue to work in Business Hub after migration in most cases. Organizations using the on-premise console should therefore review their current Avast Business environment and complete the migration before the service is retired.

Blancco launches Mobile Workspace Edition 1.0

New Windows-native software brings mobile device erasure, diagnostics and eligibility checks to standard Windows 11 workstations.

Blancco has released Blancco Mobile Workspace Edition 1.0, a new application for processing mobile devices directly from Windows 11 PCs.

The software supports Apple and Android smartphones and tablets, combining erasure, diagnostics and reporting in one application without requiring additional dedicated hardware.

Built for device processing at scale

Mobile Workspace Edition is designed for retail, enterprise IT and distributed processing environments. It supports up to five devices at a time and includes more than 80 configurable diagnostic tests.

Supported data sanitization methods include NIST 800-88 Clear, NIST 800-88 Rev. 2 Clear and Purge, as well as factory-reset methods for supported devices.

Device eligibility checks included

Operators can check devices for issues that may affect reuse or resale before processing.

Apple wearables require a companion iPhone, while supported Android watches can be processed through the application.

Centralized deployment and workflows

Administrators can manage settings and workflows through the Blancco Management Portal, while the application can automatically synchronize approved workflows and receive over-the-air updates.

Microsoft Intune deployment is also available as an early-access capability.

Version 1.0 limitations

The initial release has several known limitations. Android devices require USB Debugging, Apple Watch diagnostics have a known installation issue, and some iOS erasure scenarios are not yet supported.

ADISA certification and NIST portal registration are also still in progress.

Blancco says Mobile Workspace Edition will continue to evolve based on customer feedback.

Acunetix to Rebrand as Invicti Web & API

Security testing brand Acunetix is being renamed Invicti Web & API, with the company saying the change is limited to branding and will not affect the product’s capabilities or strategy.

Invicti has announced that its Acunetix website will begin transitioning to the Invicti Web & API name from August 3, according to an email sent to partners and customers.

The company described the move as a branding change rather than a change to the underlying product. Existing capabilities will remain the same, while the Acunetix name and logo will be replaced by Invicti Web & API branding.

Customers and partners are not expected to take any action as part of the transition. Invicti said it does not anticipate disruptions to lead generation, referral flows or co-branded materials, and that it will contact affected parties directly if any changes require their attention.

A name focused on DAST

The rebrand is intended to more clearly communicate the product’s focus on dynamic application security testing (DAST) for web applications and APIs.

Invicti said Acunetix has long been closely associated with DAST, and that the new Invicti Web & API name is designed to make the product’s purpose immediately apparent.

The company also pointed to a broader trend in the application security market toward consolidating product branding under a single corporate identity. In its email, Invicti cited Snyk’s recent rebranding of Probely as an example of a similar approach.

Invicti said operating under one brand should create a more consistent market presence, including combined product reviews, unified analyst recognition and a clearer identity for prospective buyers.

"This is a meaningful step forward," the company told recipients of the announcement.

Delphi 13 and C++Builder 13 Community Editions Arrive with Major Free Upgrades

Embarcadero has released Delphi 13 Community Edition and C++Builder 13 Community Edition, bringing its free development tools much closer to the current commercial RAD Studio 13 "Florence" release. Both editions are aimed at students, hobbyists, freelancers, independent developers, and qualifying small teams.

For Delphi developers, the jump from Community Edition 12.1 to 13 includes several releases’ worth of improvements. Delphi 13 adds new language features, a native 64-bit IDE, improved code tooling and debugging, and updates to both the VCL Windows framework and the cross-platform FireMonkey framework. Mobile support has also moved forward, with updated tooling for Android 15/API 35 and iOS 18.

C++Builder 13 CE gets an especially significant toolchain refresh. Its modern 64-bit Windows compiler is now based on Clang 20, new projects default to C++23, and the debugger has moved to LLDB 20. Embarcadero says the newer compiler also improves compatibility with third-party libraries, with projects such as OpenCV, Google Test and VTK confirmed working with the updated toolchain.

C++Builder also gains the 64-bit IDE and the latest VCL and FireMonkey improvements, including graphics, UI, touch and performance enhancements.

Both Community Editions remain free under a one-year license with limited commercial use. In general, individual developers earning under US$5,000 per year from their applications and organizations earning under US$5,000 annually with teams of no more than five developers can qualify, although Embarcadero recommends checking the full license terms.

ShareGate Adds Entra ID Migration to Its Migration Workflow

ShareGate has announced that Entra ID migration is now available directly inside ShareGate Migrate, bringing identity migration into the same workflow as mailbox, file, and workload migrations. The update is designed to help organizations and service providers manage tenant-to-tenant migrations more smoothly by handling identity first. Users, security groups, Microsoft 365 groups, memberships, and license assignments can now be mapped and validated before other migration steps begin. According to ShareGate, the new functionality helps reduce migration risks by surfacing conflicts before execution. This allows customers to review and approve the migration plan in advance, helping avoid broken access, post-migration cleanup, and surprises during go-live. The Entra ID migration capability also includes custom domain mapping, manual identity mapping, and persistent mapping across migration runs. ShareGate says the feature is available with ShareGate Migrate Pro and Enterprise plans. By bringing identity migration into the same tool and workflow, ShareGate aims to simplify migration projects and reduce the need for separate tools, scripts, or additional identity migration processes.

Enfocus to Discontinue PitStop Pro Perpetual License Sales in July 2026

Trans-Europe has informed customers about an upcoming change to the Enfocus product portfolio. As of July 1, 2026, Enfocus will discontinue the sale of new PitStop Pro perpetual licenses. For new customers, PitStop Pro will be available exclusively through a subscription-based licensing model. Existing customers who already have a perpetual license and an active maintenance agreement will be able to retain their current license. Maintenance services connected to existing perpetual licenses will also remain available for these customers. However, Enfocus recommends that current perpetual license holders consider moving to the subscription model, which is available under preferential pricing conditions. According to the update, the purpose of the transition is to ensure that users continue to receive the latest features, enhancements, and support services. The subscription model is also intended to simplify license management and provide a more predictable update cycle for customers.
